Although most ski mountains don't require it, it's a good idea to wear a helmet. The best way to avoid a collision is to follow basic safety rules including stay in control, stop in a safe place for you and others and when starting downhill or merging, look uphill and yield. It is also important to obey signs designating slow zones and intersecting areas. It is recommended that all skiers and snowboarders share the slopes and always show respect for others.

Union to ballot for strike action over Aer Lingus cuts

Aer Lingus is planning to cut up to 1,500 jobs through redundancy and outsourcing as part of a 74 million euro cost-saving programme, while SIPTU union members working for the company have decided to ballot for all out industrial action.
