    ZACATECAS

    Colonial city Zacatecas is located in Mexico’s north-central region, 610 km (378 mi) northwest of Mexico City, 458 km (283 mi) southwest of Monterrey and 318 km (197 mi) north of Guadalajara. The average temperature is 16º C (61º F).

     

    Due to its pink limestone buildings, Zacatecas is one of the most beautiful cities in northern Mexico. Thanks to the city’s splendid history and architecture, the UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site. Look no further than the majestic cathedral, considered one of the most important expressions of Baroque architecture in Mexico.

     


    XALAPA

    Xalapa, the state capital of Veracruz, is located 104 km (64 mi) west of the port of Veracruz, in a mountain zone with a temperate and humid climate. The average year-round temperature is 18º C (64º F).

     


    VILLAHERMOSA

    Villahermosa, the state capital of Tabasco, is located in the Gulf Coast region, in southeastern Mexico. It lies in a zone that gets heavy annual rainfall. The climate is humid and tropical, with an average year-round temperature of 25º C (77º F), however it can reach up to 40º C (104º F) in the summer.

    VERACRUZ

    Veracruz, the nation’s most important port, is located in Mexico’s Gulf coast region, 140 km (87 mi) southeast of state capital Xalapa (on Highway 140), and 390 km (242 mi) from Mexico City (on Highway 150). The climate is tropical and the average temperature is 25º C (77º F).

     


    TUXTLA GUTIERREZ

    Tuxtla Gutierrez, the state capital of Chiapas, is located in southern Mexico, 85 km (53 mi) east of San Cristobal de las Casas. The city has a pleasant semi-humid climate, with an average year-round temperature of 23º C (73º F).

     


    TLAXCALA

    The beautiful city of Tlaxcala, the state capital of Tlaxcala, is located in Mexico’s central eastern region, 120 km (74 mi) east of Mexico City. The climate is mild with an average temperature of 18º C (64º F).

     


    TIJUANA

    Tijuana, a prosperous city on Mexico’s northern border, lies on the northwestern end of the Baja California Peninsula, 189 km (117 mi) west of Mexicali and 29 km (18 mi) south of San Diego, California. The climate is hot, with an average temperature of 21º C (70º F).

     


    TAXCO

    Originally called Taxco de Alarcon, the silver capital of Mexico is located in Mexico’s southern region, 138 km (85 mi) north of Chilpancingo, the state capital of Guerrero, and 151 km (93 mi) south of Mexico City, off Highway 95. The climate is warm and humid, with an average year-round temperature of 19º C (66º F).

     


    TAMPICO

    Tampico, the second most important commercial port along the Gulf of Mexico, is located on the southeastern tip of Tamaulipas, 254 km (157 mi) southeast of state capital Ciudad Victoria. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with an average year-round temperature of 24º C (75º F). Known primarily for its bustling commercial activity along the port, Tampico also offers architectural, archaeological and natural attractions, making it one of the region’s main tourist destinations.

    SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE

    San Miguel de Allende is located in central Mexico, 92 km (57 mi) west of the city of Guanajuato and 276 km (170 mi) northwest of Mexico City, off Highway 110. The average temperature ranges between 16º and 22º C (61º and 72º F). The city’s magnificent colonial edifices, which often combine baroque and neoclassical elements, offer clear examples of the eclectic mix of architectural styles, as you’ll see in buildings such as the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel and the Oratorio de San Felipe Neri. What’s more, you’ll have a clearer understanding of the city’s role during the independence insurgence when you visit the stately mansion that houses the Museo Casa Allende. In addition, San Miguel is a destination that draws tourists from all over the world due to its important cultural events, such as the Sanmiguelada, which was inspired by Spain’s Pamplona Festival. The city also hosts world-famous events such as the Chamber Music Festival and the San Miguel Jazz Festival, which features renowned artists.
